At a time when the global environment is facing many crisis, government need to include agriculture and environmental management in student’s curriculum as part of their efforts to educate our students on the need for nature conservation. Hon. M. P. Mr. Hibi Eden said that this suggestion will be presented in the parliament. He was speaking after inaugurating the prize giving ceremony of Environmental Competitions organized by Mattancherry Sub-District Environment Club and Karunya Sanghavedi Kochi on 27 June, 2022.
He said that he was happy to know that the Ernakulam District Environment Club is constantly striving to bring in a period for farming in schools to promote agriculture as part of the demand as compulsory for students to experience agriculture and its importance.
The meeting was chaired by Councilor M. Habibullah, Kochi Corporation Education Standing Committee Chairperson. Mr. V. A. Sreejith delivered the keynote address and Mattancherry AEO N. Sudha also gave an introductory speech. Leader of Opposition Adv. Antony Kureethara, School Manager Mr. Abdul Siyad, Mr. Ashraf Kochi, Karunya Sanghvedi President Mr. P. K. Nadesan, Environmental Activist Mr. Baiju Stephen, Councilor Mrs. T. J. Padmakumari, HM Forum Convenor Mr. P. J. Xavier, Headmistress Mrs. V. A. Shine, L.A. P. Headmaster Mr. V. M. Mohammad Anwar, Agriculture Officer Mr. K. A. Rajan, Mr. P. J. Lawrence, Mr. P. T. Boniface, Mrs. Joyce Antony, Mr. K. V. Mathew, Environment Club District Coordinator Mr. Zubair P. M. and Dr. Anoop Francis also spoke.
