Karunya Sangha Vedi, Kochi in its dedicated efforts to inspire the burgeoning student community, successfully conveyed the imperative importance of environmental preservation across 72 schools in the Mattancherry Education Sub District. In the LP/UP/HS sections, a myriad of captivating competitions centered around environmental themes were meticulously organized, engaging and enlightening students on the critical need for environmental protection and care. Visual arts took center stage with an array of creative expressions, featuring pencil drawings and the vibrant palette of watercolors and oil colors in the LP section. Meanwhile, the UP High School section embraced diverse artistic mediums. In addition to the visual arts, an essay competition on the environment provided an avenue for children to articulate their thoughts and insights.
Mrs. N. Sudha, the Education Officer of Mattanchery Sub District, wholeheartedly provided unwavering support and encouragement to the environmental competitions conducted in collaboration with the Environment Club of Mattanchery Sub District, operating under the banner of "Harita Vidyalayam." The process involved identifying participating children and determining the most environmentally conscious school at the sub-district level. Data collection was meticulously carried out using spreadsheets sourced from the sub-district office. Artistic submissions, including drawings and essays crafted by students, were gathered at Fatima Girls High School in Fort Kochi on the Registration Day of the Sub-District Art Festival, which took place on 13-Nov-2023.
In the pursuit of this noble endeavor, the dedicated members of Karunya Sangha Vedi, led by the visionary President, Mr. P. K. Natesan, alongside the committed General Secretary, Mr. P. G. Lawrence, and the meticulous Program Coordinator, Mr. P. T. Boniface, orchestrated a symphony of efforts. The collective passion and unwavering commitment extended to the cause by Environment Convener, Mrs. Praveena Sunil, as well as the invaluable contributions from Mr. Sebastian Barnard, Mrs. Sophia T.P, Mrs. Joyce Antony, Mrs. Jiji Jacob Mariamma, Mrs. Enswide Finton, Mrs. Missouri Sam, and countless others, transformed this initiative into a beautiful tapestry of collaboration and goodwill. In a celebration of artistic brilliance, a curated collection of over 100 paintings underwent the discerning gaze of distinguished educators hailing from the cultural bastions of Thiruvananthapuram and Alappuzha districts. Guided by the insightful eyes of these eminent teachers, each stroke and hue became a testament to the boundless creativity thriving in our communities. Through this meticulous evaluation, a constellation of winners emerged, their creations transcending canvas boundaries to embody the sublime. These chosen artists now stand as beacons of inspiration, their works a testament to the profound beauty that flourishes when talent meets discerning appreciation.
In the realm of scholastic excellence within the UP High School Section, the artistry of essay writing took center stage. Serving as the esteemed adjudicators for this intellectual endeavor were retired luminaries from the Higher Secondary Section. These venerable teachers, with their wealth of experience and discerning perspectives, assumed the role of judges, shaping an environment where the written word became a canvas for profound expression and insightful exploration.
The Environment Department of Kochi's Karunya Sangha Vedi, in collaboration with Mrs. Sumaiya Teacher, Officer of the Mattancherry Sub District Environment Club, and the esteemed presence of Mr. P. T. Boniface, Mrs. Praveena Sunil, Mrs. T.P Sophia, and Mr. Sebastian Bernard, embarked on a comprehensive journey. Their destination: various schools within the sub-district.
