Under the leadership of the Karunya Sangha Vedi, the 79th Independence Day of India was celebrated with due solemnity. General Secretary Mr. P. G. Lawrence delivered the introductory speech on the significance of Independence Day. The organization’s President, Mr. P. T. Boniface, hoisted the national flag at 8:30 a.m. in the office courtyard. Major R. Rajesh delivered the Independence Day message. Vice Presidents Mr. P. K. Nadesan and Mrs. T. P. Sophia; Secretaries Dr. M. S. Sujith and Mrs. A. S. Ambili; Treasurer Mr. Sebastian Bernard; and various committee conveners including Mrs. Joyce Antony, Mr. P. K. Suresh, Mrs. Chandini Ronald, Mr. Jayan T. J., Mrs. Sherly Peter, Mrs. Missouri Sam, Mr. Antony Palluruthy, and Sister Susan participated in the program.
After the courtyard events, sweets were distributed to everyone. Following that, members of Karunya Sangha Vedi also participated in Independence Day celebrations held under the supervision of Anganwadis (childcare centers) in Divisions 8 and 28 of the Kochi Corporation, where sweets were distributed to the children. Kochi Municipal Corporation’s Town Planning Chairperson Mr. Sanal Mon J inaugurated the programs. After the children’s cultural performances, Karunya Sangha Vedi Secretary and Anganwadi teacher Mrs. A. S. Ambili delivered the vote of thanks.
