Dr. Thomas Maliyekkal, Consul of Italy in Kerala and recipient of the Star of Italy award from the Italian Government, led a special training program for the members of Karunya Sangha Vedi, Kochi. The focus was on preparing European food dishes while retaining their authentic qualities and blending them with Kerala’s traditional culinary practices to create new, flavorful recipes.
The sessions introduced participants to dishes such as pasta, dumplings, and risotto, prepared with 80% less oil, along with Kerala-style adaptations like pork chops, quail, and beef chops, grilled with light spices. The fusion methods brought out refreshing and enjoyable new tastes.
Following the meal, a meeting was held in which General Secretary Mr. P. G. Lawrence extended greetings to all, while President Mr. P. T. Boniface presided over the function.
Participants praised Dr. Thomas for his five-star chef expertise in teaching how to prepare delicious dishes within a short time.
Congratulatory messages were also delivered by Vice Presidents Mr. P. K. Natesan and Mrs. T. P. Sophia, Secretary Dr. M. S. Sujith, Treasurer Sebastian Bernard, Program Coordinator Mr. P. P. Jacob, and Palliative Convener Mrs. Joyce Antony, all of whom conveyed their best wishes to Dr. Thomas.
