A lifestyle disease diagnostic camp was organized for coastal residents under the leadership of Karunya Sangha Vedi, Kochi at the Our Lady of Health Saudi Church Hall.
The camp was inaugurated by the parish vicar, Rev. Fr. Thobias Thekke Palackal. Karunya Sangha Vedi President Mr. P. T. Boniface presided over the function.
Dr. Thomas Maliakkel, recipient of the Star of Italy award; Mrs. Shirley Peter, retired government nursing superintendent; Mrs. Helen Joy, retired head nurse; Mrs. Joyce Antony, palliative care convenor; Mrs. Missory Sam; and Mrs. Zeen Jolly led the camp.
More than a hundred people from the coastal region participated. Their oxygen levels, blood pressure, and blood sugar were checked. The monthly changes in these parameters were accurately recorded on medical cards. Patients were examined and provided with the necessary medicines free of cost under the doctor’s supervision. All participants were also given free breakfast.
Food kits for bedridden patients were distributed by Karunya Sangha Vedi General Secretary Mr. P. G. Lawrence, while treatment assistance funds were handed over by Dr. Thomas Maliakkel and Treasurer Mr. Sebastian Bernard. Vice President Mr. P. K. Natesan, Mrs. T. P. Sophia, Mrs. A. S. Ambili, Mr. Antony Palluruthy, and Mr. Alex also spoke at the event.
