In connection with World Teachers’ Day, Karunya Sangha Vedi, Kochi has organized an educational seminar for teachers on the topic “How to handle the new generation of students.” Kochi Mayor Advocate Mr. M. Anilkumar inaugurated the seminar. In his inaugural address, he said that teaching is a noble service; teachers should strive to understand the living conditions of children coming from diverse backgrounds and stimulate the thinking of every student. He added that teachers must update their thinking, knowledge, and contemporary information in ways appropriate to the modern era.
Mr. J. Sanil Mon, Chairman of the Kochi Town Planning Committee, delivered the keynote address. He said that varied activities in the fields of education, environment, and palliative care are being carried out by KSV Charity in an exemplary manner. Mr. P. T. Boniface, President of Karunya Sangha Vedi, presided over the function. Speakers included Division Councillor Mrs. Sheeba Durom; Mattancherry Educational Sub-District Officer Mrs. N. Sudha; O.L.T.T.I. Principal Sr. Philomin Mathew; General Secretary Mr. P. G. Lawrence; Mrs. T. P. Sophia; Mr. Sebastian Bernard; Mrs. T. J. Jain; Mrs. Ivy Antony; Mrs. Mary Lissy; Mrs. Chandini Ronald; and Mr. P. K. Suresh.
Professional trainer Dr. M. A. Ali conducted sessions on “Problems faced by students in the teaching–learning process and their remedies,” using a projector. On the topic “Innovative approaches in teaching methods,” Avila College Principal Dr. Benny Varghese led training sessions. Offering thanks for the training sessions, teacher Ms. Diya and teacher–student representative Ms. Bincy Babu addressed the gathering. Former Avila College teacher Mrs. Lilly Antony served as moderator.
Certificates of Appreciation from the Karunya Sangha Vedi were presented to the teachers who led the sessions by the organization’s president, Mr. P. T. Boniface. All teachers who attended the seminar received Certificates of Participation.
